1. TAKE A HIKE
If you and your dog enjoy walking, taking your hike to a new location is one of our favorite fun dog activities. Dogs big and small are excellent hiking companions. Exploring and socializing among people and other dogs is important because socialized dogs have better-coping skills.
Positive experiences will help especially your young pup grow up to be a well-rounded, stable dog. So engaging in fun things to do with your dog is a win-win! Just remember to keep both of you hydrated throughout your trek, and be sure the hike is not too strenuous for them. Bring a few of his favorite Hero toys and be sure to take breaks to relax and refresh.
2. COOL OFF UNDER A SPRINKLER OR KIDDIE POOL
Introducing your dog to a pool is one of the most fun things to do with your dog on a hot day - and it's another form of exercise, the best way to have fun and stay cool!
Remember, some dogs love swimming while others have no interest. Never force your dog to take a dip in the water. With proper training and precautions, wading in a kiddie pool or frolicking under a sprinkler is great for cooling off on hot summer days. Introduce the water gradually, and be sure to bring along his favorite toys.
3. MAKE SUMMER TREATS
Whether you’re going on a trip or planning to stay at home, homemade dog treats during the summer is a fun reward for your dog. For another one of those activities to do with your dog, try freezing our rubber dog toys in ice cubes that double as a foraging adventure to keep your dog hydrated all summer long!
Peanut butter or soft food can also be frozen in ice cube trays and placed inside our foraging toys for a delicious, adventurous treat!
